Steve Martin was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on May 19, 1948. After graduation from College High School in Bartlesville he graduated from the University of Oklahoma. After a short teaching career, Martin entered a family owned business involved in cattle ranching and oil production. At the time of his first election to office in 2004 he was working as a real estate broker. He and wife Barbara have three sons and four granddaughters.
