Faught was born on July 14, 1962 in Brownfield, Texas. His family relocated to Muskogee, Oklahoma when he was six months old. In 2006, Faught became the 1st Republican in state history elected to House District 14. He served as Assistant Majority Floor Leader from 2009-2012. In 2012, Faught was one of six seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Congress and made it into a run-off where he lost to the eventual winner of the seat. In 2014, he was re-elected to represent House District. He and his wife, Becky have three grown children: Tyler (married to Rachelle), Jamison (married to Kristen) and Savannah (attending College of the Ozarks). They are expecting their first grandchild in July 2015. His hobbies include traveling, cooking, gardening and beekeeping.
He graduated from Muskogee High School in 1980 and from Bryan Institute in 1987.
Faught owns Clean Pro, a carpet cleaning company specializing in fire and water damage restoration.
He is a member of the Muskogee and Fort Gibson Chambers of Commerce, Gideon's International, National Rifle Association and Oklahoma 2nd Amendment Association. Faught is an active member of Tulsa Bible Church where he serves as Deacon, Usher and Discovery Class Teacher.
In 2011, Faught received the Eagle Award from the Oklahoma Eagle Forum, presented by Eagle Forum founder and conservative icon, Phyllis Schlafly. Other honors include being named "Representative of the Year" by the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services (2011), "Legislator of the Year" by the Oklahoma Psychological Association (2011), and "Patriot of the 2nd Amendment" in 2011 and 2012 by the Oklahoma 2nd Amendment Association (OK2A).
