Joe Dorman was born in 1970 to Bill and Jan Dorman of Rush Springs. He has three siblings: Butch Dorman of Marlow, Kathy Stowers of Rush Springs and Billie Coast of Lawton, as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces in the surrounding area and California.
Following graduation from Rush Springs High School, Joe attended Oklahoma State University. Joe was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, a member of the OSU SGA Student Senate, served as Senate Chairman and was active in various organizations and served in several student leadership positions.
Joe began his career as an employee of the Oklahoma House of Representatives as a mail clerk and runner in 1994. After serving in several staff positions, Joe served as an Assistant to the Executive Director of the House Stand and helped create an educational component for the high school pages that rotate each week through the Capitol. The Pageville program continues as one of the most popular aspects of the Page Program for high school students.
Joe worked in Washington, D.C. for a period of time, and then returned to the House as the Special Projects Coordinator for the House of Representatives Staff. In this position, he served as the lead staff member for the Legislator Back to School Week Program, International Student Awareness Day, and the Pageville Mock Legislature, along with preparing a daily bill summary for the Representatives regarding the legislation to be considered. Joe resigned from the House of Representatives in 2002 to seek the State Representative position in House District 65 following the retirement of long-term State Representative, Speaker Pro Tempore Emeritus Jim Glover.
Joe enjoys golfing, hunting, attending college athletic events, especially college football and basketball, working with youth programs and spending time with friends. Joe also enjoys watching the OKC Thunder and the OKC Redhawks when time allows attending games or watching on television.
