PERSONAL:
State Representative Colby Schwartz was first elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in November of 2006. He was re-elected without opposition by the people of House District 43 in 2008. The district is completely within the borders of Canadian County, including the communities of Yukon and Mustang.

Colby is a lifelong resident of Canadian County, and graduate of Yukon High School. In 2003 he married Brenda Black who also is a graduate of Yukon High School. Colby and his wife have two daughters, Campbell, 4 years old, and Harper, 1 year old. They are members of Covenant Community Church in Yukon, where they serve in the children’s ministry. In addition to taking care of their two daughters, Colby’s wife Brenda also serves on the Infant Crisis Services, Inc. Board of Directors.

Colby attended Oklahoma City University in 1992, graduating three years later with a degree in political science. After graduating he went to work for several different campaigns in the 1996 election cycle, including Bob Dole For President, Ed Apple for Corporation Commissioner, and Jim Inhofe for U.S. Senate. After the elections he went to work for then Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John Crawford. Upon leaving the Insurance Department, he served as State Senator Mike Johnson’s campaign manager in 1998. After Sen. Johnson’s successful campaign, Colby went into the insurance and investment industry, as well as a brief period as the Executive Director for the South OKC Council of Neighborhoods.

In June of 1999 Colby was hired by Mary Fallin to serve as her Legislative and Constituent Liaison in the Office of Lieutenant Governor. He worked closely with Lt. Governor Fallin as she traveled the state promoting Oklahoma. He left her office for an opportunity in the private sector in 2001. Over the next six years Rep. Schwartz gained sales and marketing experience as a sales representative in the pharmaceutical industry.

During his time in the private sector, Rep. Schwartz remained very active within the Republican Party as an activist and emerging leader. He was elected to three consecutive terms as Chairman of the Canadian County Republican Party, serving a total of six years. He served as a Presidential Elector in the 2004 election for Oklahoma; and just recently completed serving his second term on the Oklahoma State Party Budget Committee, where he was elected by the 3rd District Committee. He also was named the Canadian County Republican Party “Volunteer of the Year” in 2006. Outside of Party activities, Colby also served five years on the Canadian Valley Red Cross Board of Directors, while also serving four years on the Yukon Public Schools Foundation for Excellence Board of Trustees.

Currently Colby operates SchINC, LLC, a sales & marketing consulting firm. Some of his clientele include companies working in the health care and publishing industries.
