OKLAHOMA CITY – Rep. Forrest Bennett, D-Oklahoma City, issued the following statement of condolences after the passing of former Rep. Richard Morrissette at 69. Bennett was preceded by Rep. Morrissette in representing House District 92. 

“Richard was a fixture in Oklahoma politics, and my understanding of it, from the moment I took interest in the process so long ago.

“I learned a lot about how the Capitol worked, and how to work in it, by watching the way Rep. Morrissette took on the challenges of representing working class Oklahomans in a place that too often forgets them.

“He was a fierce advocate for the things he believed in, a tireless fighter for the people he represented and the causes he took up, and a loyal friend to Oklahoma’s working families.”
